Each year Christians across the world celebrates Pentecost. Pentecost is not as well-known or as popular as the Christmas and Easter, though it commemorates a watershed event in Christian history. It many ways, Pentecost is the birthday of the church.

1. Establish your own private home.

“A man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh” (Genesis 2:24). God’s principle is that a married couple should move out of their parents’ homes and establish their own, even if finances require something modest, such as a one-room apartment. A husband and wife should decide this together, as one, and remain firm even if someone opposes. Many marriages would be improved if this principle were carefully followed.

Financially giving is important and it should be done faithfully. Tithing honours the Scriptural principles of generously providing for religious leaders, giving to those in need, and laying up treasures in heaven.
Throughout Scripture, we are encouraged to give the first part of our resources to God as an expression of honour and gratitude. “Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase: so, shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine” (Proverbs 3:9–10).
